| I’m Shelli Giff, of Woolen Whimsy, based in beautiful Georgina, Ontario. My creative journey really took off in 2023 when I stumbled upon the wonderful world of needle felting while attending a workshop with the talented Janet at Artistic Approach Studio in Keswick. One needle felting workshop, and I was completely hooked! My work centers around the art of two-dimensional needle felting and wet felting. The tactile nature of wool felting allows me to truly connect with my materials and create pieces that are both visually appealing and filled with texture. I love taking inspiration from my photographs and bringing them to life through my felting process. Nature is a huge part of my work, and I find so much joy in creating pieces that embody the natural beauty of our surroundings. It is a medium that provides great satisfaction, as well as an opportunity to continuously evolve and develop my techniques. I find so much joy in transforming soft, beautiful wool into pictures! It’s amazing how this simple medium allows me to bring what I see in my mind’s eye to life. I hope my love for felting shines through in every single one of my pieces. |
