Hi, I’m David Mitton and along with my wife Sonia we are Scrap2art. We started over 15 years ago creating our unique artwork by accident as we wanted something different for ourselves. I was raised to repurpose and reinvent a way to utilize what I had on hand.
Because of this, creating things out of the discarded parts from my daytime mechanics job seemed a natural step. I was able to transform discarded pieces into something that would fit into our garden. And that is how it all started and developed from our early days.
We continue to attend a number of local art shows, as well, our home studio is open at various times of the year and by appointment. Our studio is located in Pefferlaw, which by the way is a repurposed shipping container that we totally converted.
I have had no formal training as an artist but believe art comes from the heart and not a book.
Sonia is my biggest critic in a very positive way and pushes my creativity with her ideas, behind every man is a greater woman. We collaborate well together with new ideas and creativity.
We are fortunate to have our artwork as far afield as Newfoundland, British Columbia, England, USA, Mexico and in many homes across Ontario.
Our artwork is made out of mostly repurposed metal, hopefully doing our bit for the environment and adding beauty to our world.
